Hitachi Portable Planer/Jointer - aff
I have a Hitachi P100F 12″ Thickness Planer. These machines are hard to find. They are work horses but Hitachi discontinued production several years ago. I will upload a photo of my planer here so you know what to look for if searching for a used machine. Parts are still available and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this used. If you could get one for $1000 or less you’d be lucky.
I have never used a bench top style planer. I see that Amazon sells a Hitachi P12RA 12-9/32-Inch Planer and 6-1/8-Inch Jointer. Hitachi makes quality products, but I have never seen this machine in person. I did notice that is has a 5 year warranty, which tells me they are standing behind this machine. It also has several 5 star reviews and it looks like people are pleased with it’s performance.
